Saint Nicolas d'Aliermont, French, No. 2567, made for J.E Caldwell & Co., Philadelphia, (U.S.A), circa 1890. Fine and rare gilt-bronze, quarter-repeating Grande and Petite Sonnerie, carriage clock with carillon on four gongs.
C. Gilt bronze, "Anglaise " , glazed four sides and top. D. White enamel with blue Roman numerals and gilt outer Arabic minutes ring, the centre decorated with a gilt rosette. Blued-steel "spade" hands. The dial plate fully decorated with chased gilt foliage and two birds below the dial against the matted oxidised ground. M. Brass, eight-day with going barrels both on the going and the striking train, nickel plated platform escapement with straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, blued-steel Breguet balance spring. Quarter striking, repeating and alarm on four gongs with button on the top, Grande and Petite Sonnerie/Silent, optional lever in the base. Signed on the dial Dim. 15 x 10 x 9 cm., excluding the handle.
