Clemence Freres, Chaux de Fonds, No. 50780, made for La Perla, Bolognese & Rothacker, Geneve et Napoli, circa 1890. Fine 18K pink gold hunting cased, keyless pocket chronometer. Bulletin de Premiere Classe de l'Observatoire cantonal de Neuchatel, in 1890, ranked 36 on 88 award-wining chronometers.

C. Four body, massive, "bassine", fully chased with formal and foliage decoration, the cover centred with a horse rider, the back with harvest trophies. Hinged gold cuvette, engraved with technical details, the awarded Bulletin and foliage decoration. D. Silver with Roman numerals, sunk subsidiary seconds, engraved with foliage and applied with gold cast grapes and vine branches. Blued-steel "spade" hands. M. Gilt-brass half plate, 16 jewels, pivoted detent escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued-steel helical balance spring with terminal curves. Signed on the dial, cuvette and movement. Accompanied by photocopies of the timing contest. Diam. 52 mm.
