J.W. Benson, By Special Warrants to H. M. the Queen and H.R.H. the Prince of Wales, 28 Royal Exchange, London, No. 2510, with London hallmarks for 1906. Fine 18K gold, open hunting cased, keyless minute repeating Grande and Petite Sonnerie clock watch.
C. Four body, massive "bassine et filets" polished with spring loaded glazed cover. Hinged gold cuvette. D. White enamel with Roman numerals, outer minutes ring and sunk subsidiary seconds. Blued-steel "spade" hands. M. 20 "' , frosted and gilt, three-quarter plate, partly Swiss made, 15 jewels in screwed settings for the going train, English pointed tooth lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, free sprung blued-steel balance spring with terminal curve, diamond end-stone. Grande and Petite Sonnerie, striking, and minute repeating on gongs with slide in the band, Silent/Strike quarters hours and quarters selection levers beneath the bezel. Signed on the back plate. Diam. 56 mm.
