Daniel de Saint Leu, Watchmaker to Her Majesty, London, No. 1143/2524, made for the Islamic Market, case stampted with maker's mark of John Penny, circa 1815. Very fine and rare 18K gold pair-cased, diamond-set, quarter striking clock watch.

C. Outer double body, the diamond-set bezel chased with a wreath of flowers, the back chased with laurel branches and flags against a matted ground and applied with a crescent and a star set with large rosecut diamonds, the border decoration matching that of the bezel. Inner double body, "bassine" with diamond-set bow, a large rose-cut diamond set on the pendant, the back pierced and engraved with scrolling foliage and centred with flowers. D. White enamel with Turkish numerals (very slightly restored on the border). Diamond-set hands. M. Gilt-brass full plate double train, with turned pillars, fixed gilt-brass barrels with revolving arbours on both trains, cylinder escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, gilt-brass cock pierced and engraved with scrolling foliage. Striking on a bell with strike-silent selection lever on the bezel. Signed on the dial, dust-cap and back plate. Diam. 62 mm.
