Notes

A great number of snuff boxes, caskets and other necessaires were made during the 19th century, fitted with watch Movements which remained in stock after the French Revolution and that were not accurate enough to be used for watches and sold. `Quarter repeating watch movements were often mounted on mall "montres d'alcove".
