Notes

Shibayama was a very skilful Japanese craftsman from the Meiji Period (late 19th century). He introduced and gave his name to a new style of decoration characterized by ivory panels inlaid with compositions of foliage, flowers and animals in mother-ofpearl and pietra dura, carved in high relief.
