Unsigned, (German?), circa 1770. Very fine 20K gold mounted crystal skeleton watch.

C. Double body Louis XV with plain gold bezel, the crystal back carved in a basket work pattern. D. Gold champleve, fully skeletonised with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Rose-cut diamond set hands. M. Hinged, gilt brass, fully skeletonised with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring, polished steel end-piece. In very good condition. Diam.46 mm.

The gilt brass movement of this watch, as opposed to those of most other skeleton watches,does not feature a regular full plate fully skeletonised, but appears to have been made From a purposely hand made calibre.
