Hinged gil t brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, free standin g barrel passing through the back plate, ruby cylinde r escapement, plain polished steel three-arm balance , flat balance spring with unusual bimetallic compensation curb on the index . Early Prest keyless wincling system, patentecl in 1820 . Signed on the clial and back plate . [n very good condition. Diam. 53 mm.

hn 1820, Thomas Prest, who iras John Roger Arnold 's foacman , obtained a patent No . 4501, for a keyless winding watch, it catis a s follow : "A New and Additional Movement applicd to a Watch, to euable il to be wouncl np by the fendant Knob without an y Detached Key or Winder " John Roger thereforecomes to soute arrangement tvith Thomas Prest and straight away in 1820, they proceeded to produce a scric s of lovely watches with ruby cylinder escapements, compensatio n curb, flat steel balance spring and the new Prest ' s keyles s mechanism and a going barrel
