Geiser Freres, circa 1830. "Socrate" Fine and unusual gilt bronze, eight day going, quarter striking and repeating clock.

C. Humped back gilt bronze, on four engine-turned feet, with palm-leaf border on the base, engineturned bezel and applied floral decoration, the bronze figure of Socrate at the top. D. White enamel with Breguet numerals. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. Large brass circular with going barrels both for the going and the striking train, dead-beat escapement, the half second beating grid-iron compensated pendulum with knife edge suspension. Striking and repeating on two bells with Neuchatel type striking work on the back plate. Signed on the dial. In very good condition. Dim. 55 x 23 x 14 cm.
