Aug. Courvoisier & Cie, Chaux-de-Fonds, Swiss, No. 2120, circa 1880. Fine and rare gilt bronze eight day going, Swiss type "grande and petite sonnerie" carriage clock with alarm, calendar, subsidiary seconds and chronometer escapement.
C. Cast gilt bronze, fancy " pillars" glazed four sides and top with twisted columns and elaborated foliate feet. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds on chapter "XII", engine-turned gilt dial plate with subsidiary dials for the dates and alarm setting. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. Brass, rectangular with going barrels both on the going and the striking train, platform with pivoted detent escapement, plain three-arm balance, blued-steel flat balance spring with regulator. Day time "petite sonnerie" and night time "grande sonnerie" striking in the manner peculiar to Neuchatel makers, quarter repeatin and alarm on a bell with button on the top, the striking and repeating work visible on the back plate. Signed on the dial. In very good condition. Dim. 17 x 11 x 9 cm., excluding the handle.
