Unsigned, French, No. 8981, circa 1890. Fine and rare, gilt bronze quarter-repeating "grande and petite sonnerie" carriage clock with alarm and double calendar.

C. Moulded gilt bronze, glazed on four sides and top. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and subsidiary dials below for days of the week, date and alarm setting. Blued steel "trefle" hands. M. Gilt brass, rectangular with going barrels both on the going and the striking train, platform with lateral lever escapement, bimetallic balance, blued steel flat balance spring. Striking repeating and alarm on two bells with button on the top and optional strike/silent - grande/petite sonnerie lever on the base. In very good condition. Dim. 15 x11x9cm.
