P.M., Brevete S.G.D.G., No.12511, circa 1890. Fine and rare gilt bronze, hour and half-hour striking and repeating, eight day going carriage clock with special escapement.

C. Gilt bronze, glazed, "Anglaise Riche" with plain columns. D. White enamel ring with Roman numerals and outer red Arabic minute ring, subsidiary alarm setting dial. Frosted and gilt dial plate. Blued-steel Breguet hands. M. Brass, eight-day with going barrels both on the going and the striking train, highly unusual patented plated platform escapement with vertical lever escapement, horizontal cut bimetallic balance and blued steel Breguet balance spring. Striking, repeating and alarm on a gong with button at the top. Trade Mark on the the platform escapement. In very good condition. Dim. 16 x 9,5 x 8,5 cm.

Notes

This construction of the platform escapement was certainly an attempt to avoid the excess of friction clue to the right angle gearing between the contrate wheel and the pinion on the balance staff.
