Markwick, London, No. 343, circa 1730. Fine and unusual silver, pair cased, quarter repeating watch with concealed enamel coat-of-arms.
C. Three body outer, pierced and engraved with inhabited foliage, the back opening to reveal the painted enamel Heraldic decoration. Inner bassine, the band pierced and engraved with foliage. D. Silver champleve with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Elaborate blued steel hands. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with spirally turned pillars, fusee with chain, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring, glazed silver cock engraved with a female head, diamond end-stone. Repeating on a bell by depressing the pendant. Gilt brass dust cap secured by scroll latch. Signed on the back plate and dust cap. In very good condition. Diam. 62 mm.
