Michael Craz, German, circa 1640. Fine oval, gilt brass mounted and rock crystal pre-balance spring watch.
C. Double body oval, with rock crystal cover and back, the bezel and frame engraved with delicate foliage and hatch-work, loose-ring pendant and button finial. D. Oval silver, polished engraved with small eccentric Roman chapter ring, subsidiary dials for the clays of the week and the dates, sun-and-moon aperture for night and clay hours. Blued steel hands. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with turned baluster pillars, fusee with gut-line, verge escapement with steel two arm balance without spring, gilt brass pierced and engraved irregular cock secured by a screw, with matching ratchet wheel set-up and blued steel wheeland- click set-up cock and blued steel wheel and click springs. Signed on the back plate. In good condition with some restorations and transformations. Dim. 62 x 42 mm.
