Unsigned, German, circa 1600. Very rare oval gilt metal and silver early clock-watch.

C. Three piece with loose ring pendant and button finial, the ribbed centre section with applied silver band engraved with flowers and foliage, hinged cover fully engraved with foliage and pierced with trefoil pattern displaying the numerals, the hinged back similarly pierced and engraved. D. Gilt brass dial plate engraved with a winged angel and foliage; the applied silver chapter ring with Roman numerals for I - XII and Arabic 13 - Z4, centre engraved with a winged angel, flowers and foliage. Single blued-steel hand. M. Oval gilt full plate secured by dog screws, turned pillars, fixed barrel for both going and striking trains, the going train with stackfreed, verge escapement, dumb-bell foliot and blued steel cock with hog's bristle regulator. Striking the hours on a bell, the count wheel on the back plate In very good condition with some restorations. Dim. 77 x 50 mm.
