Denis Blondel a Geneve, No. 22487, sold in 1868 for 2'370 Swiss Francs which were 900 Roubles at the time. Fine and unusual 18K gold hunting cased, dead independent seconds keyless minute repeating watch with date.

C. Four body, massive, "bassine et filets", polished, the back engraved inside with an inscription in Russian, dated 16 January 1868: "This watch was bought in June 1868. According to the invoice received from Geneva this watch cost 2370 Swiss Francs which in money values of the time, represented 900 Roubles " . Hinged gold cuvette engraved with technical details. D. White enamel with Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute and seconds ring, sunk subsidiary dial for the date. Gold "spade " hands. M. 19"', gilt brass, double train with differential winding, 36 jewels, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Repeating on gongs with slide in the band. Independent seconds train with flirt on the escape wheel pinion and bolt in the band. Signed on the dial and cuvette. In very good condition. Diam. 52 mm.

Notes

The date indication in place of the subsidiary seconds is a very unusual feature for a watch of this period, even more so on a minute repeater with dead independent seconds.
