Notes

The story of Cimon and Pero, taken from Antiquity, narrates of Cimon, an aged man, who has been imprisoned and, as he is awaiting execution, he is not given any food; his jailer, however, allowed him to see his daughter Pero. Heart-broken on seeing her beloved father so ill-treated and hungry, Pero gives him her breast for nourishment.
