M. Bernard a Paris, circa 1630. "Persee et Andromede" Very fine gilt brass and silver octagonal pre-balance spring watch.

C. Three body octagonal, the brass band overlaid with silver and engraved with foliage and angel ' s heads, silver cover and back, the cover engraved with a scene depicting Perseus and Andromeda with outer engraved fruits, foliage and cherubs. The back decorated en suite, the centre engraved wit a scene featuring Venus and Cupid. D. Silver with Roman numerals, the centre engraved with scrolled foliage decoration. Single engraved silver hand. Gilt brass dial plate with engraved decoration matching that of the case. M. Octagonal gilt brass full plate with urn pillars, three wheel train with fusee and gut line, verge escapement, plain brass two-arm balance without spring, irregular gilt brass cock secured by a pin with matching click for the ratchet wheel set-up. Signed on the back plate. Dim. 47 x 30 mm.
