Notes

Stauffer, Marc-Timothée, Les Ponts-de-Martel
Coming from a watchmaker family from Les Ponts-de-Martel (Neuchatel mountains), Marc-Timothée
Stauffer was born on January 21, 1874. He is the son of Henri-Timothée Stauffer (1849-?).
The latter is the brother of Henry-Onésime Stauffer (1847-?), who open his workshop circa 1860 and was specialized in the construction of watches with special bridges calibres forming letters or numbers (under US design patent invention No. 12 926).
Marc-Timothée Stauffer took over the company from his father and registered by the Chamber of Commerce in 1904 his own company under the name of “M. T. Stauffer Jeune” (the younger). In 1911, the watch brand “Pontif” was introduced and in 1925 the brand” Pontifa”.
