SCHREINER - SILVER & VARICOLORED GOLD COACH WATCH Mathias Charles Schreiner/Menuisier Le Jeune. Made in Friedberg circa 1760. Very fine and extremely rare, small, silver and varicolored gold, four-train coach watch with hour and quarter striking and repeating, date and alarm.
Two-body, very finely pierced, chased and engraved with applied varicolored gold landscape of imagined classical ruins, asymmetric scrollwork border, bezel decorated to match and with applied varicolored gold animal vignettes, strike/silent lever in the dial plate, pendant with loose barrel and ring. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic five minute numerals, inner enamel alarm disc with Arabic numerals. Blued steel hands. 75 mm., gilt, full-plate, conical pillars, fusee with chain, spring barrels for the striking, repeating and alarm trains, polished steel hammers, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, blued steel flat balance-spring, finely pierced, chased and engraved cock, polished steel endplate, calibrated silver regulator disc, trip quarter repeating, striking and alarm on a bell in the back of the case, with independent trains for quarters and hours, a lever for silence/strike.
