Silver, octogonal-shaped, small Butterfield-type portable horizontal sundial, with compass. The plate engraved in taille-douce with four hour-scales for the latitudes of 43o., 46o., 49o. and 52o.; spring-loaded folding gnomon with bird-shaped index, latitude scale from 40o. to 60o.; small central engraved rosette with around the manufacturer's signature. The reverse engraved in taille-douce with the names of 20 European cities with their latitudes; the back-plate of the compass, so called "Cadran Premier", with 6 others cities also with their latitudes.
