Notes

Montblanc, “Gaius Maecenas”
Montblanc created this pen in 2011 in honour of Gaius Maecenas (c.70 BC-8 BC), the first recorded patron in the history of art and culture – a symbolic figure representing cultural responsibility and selfless commitment to the propagation of art –, in a limited and numbered edition of 4 810 examples. The twenty-first of Montblanc’s “Patron of Art Edition”.
The pen, modelled on classical lines, is crafted of sterling silver and marbled lacquer. The cap is engraved with an ode to Maecenas by Horace, and the end-piece is inlaid with a replica of an ancient Roman coin.
