Montblanc, “Scipione Borghese”
Montblanc created this pen in 2017 in honour of Scipione Borghese (1577-1633), in a limited and numbered edition of 4 810 examples. The twenty-seventh of Montblanc’s “Patron of Art Edition”.
The barrel of the pen, crafted in granite, is inspired by the multicoloured marble floor of the interior of the Borghese Gallery, while the motifs and decorations on the cap evoke the antique ornaments of the famous Borghese vase. The clip, crowned with smoky quartz, recalls the branches of the old monumental trees in the garden of Villa Borghese. The shape of the top of the cap recalls a cardinal’s skullcap, while the top of the cone in cornelian shows the coat-of-arms of the family of that great Roman patron and collector, Scipione Borghese.
