Notes

Montblanc, “Hadrian”
Montblanc created this pen in 2019 in honour of Hadrian (76-138), in a limited and numbered edition of 4 810 examples. The twenty-ninth of Montblanc’s “Patron of Art Edition”.
The barrel and cap are made of Egyptian basalt inspired by the Pantheon of Rome, as are the top of the cap and the golden cone whose gradations are reminiscent of the dome of this monument. The ruthenium-coated part of the cone evokes the Villa Adriana at the gates of Rome where Hadrian retired, while the ring of the cap is decorated with two medallions, one inspired by the mask of Medusa, while the other is a portrait of Antinous represented in the features of the Egyptian god Osiris. The golden clasp represents a stylised ripe ear of wheat in honour of Demeter.
