Notes
In 1999, Montblanc launched a limited edition pen to honour Marcel Proust (1971-1922), the renowned French novelist and philosopher. This release marks the eighth edition in its “Writers Edition” series, with a total of 21,000 pieces. His most significant work, À la recherche du temps perdu (In Search of Lost Time; earlier rendered as Remembrance of Things Past), skilfully blends inner monologue with candid observations, inviting readers to recognise their own experience in his prose.
Proust’s endless pursuit for detail and precision is exemplified in this special edition. Made from 925 sterling silver, the exquisite eight-sided barrel features an elaborate guilloché pattern that reflects the elegant style of the Belle Époque era, which is closely linked to Proust's literary legacy. The tiny hourglass adorning the 18K gold nib serves as a reference to À la recherche du temps perdu, highlighting the author’s theme of the passage of time and the persistence of memory.
