A fine and rare fountain pen. Montblanc Patron of Art Edition: François I: Limited to 4810 pieces (2008). The cap made in deep-black precious resin with gold-plated fittings are elaborately engraved in the Renaissance style. The pen body combines golden-brown shimmering tiger's eye and deep-black precious resin to represent truly royal radiance, with medium 18K yellow gold nib engraved with three lilies (fleurs-de-lys), emblem of the French royalty.

François I- The French King & Patron of Culture
Montblanc created this pen in 2008 in honour of François I. (1494-1547), King of France (1515-1547), one of the most important figures in the development of Renaissance art, who drew great artists including Leonardo da Vinci into the French court, in a limited and numbered edition of 4810 examples. The eighteenth of Montblanc’s “Patron of Art Edition”.
François I was also a passionate patron of the fine arts. He had works by Italian masters such as Michelangelo, Titian, and Raphael purchased and created the basis for the Royal Art Collection in the Louvre.
A diamond-encrusted version (“Ateliers privés” series) of this fountain pen was made in a limited edition of 8 examples.
