Panerai and ?Orologeria Fagnola Torino? have decided to launch a special edition watch limited to 50 units dedicated to the snow, to winter sports and to the city of Turin. This special model is distinguished by: -A stylized snowflake engraved on the case back. -An original dial, reproducing the yellow and blue colors of the city of Turin (the dial is blue while the luminous markers and hands are pale yellow) -A second strap, which is longer and ideal for wearing over a ski suit or windcheater. The watch was only available through ?Orologeria Fagnola? in Turin or Sestrier.

The adventure of Officine Panerai started in the early 20th century with the opening of a specialist shop in Florence. It was only in 1938 that the company ?Guido Panerai & Figlio? which were to become ?Officine Panerai? created the first prototype of a wristwatch fitted with a Rolex movement intended for a special secret naval unit. The production of luminous mechanical calculators for torpedo launchers, aiming devices, depth gauges, compasses, and timers for mines and underwater charges linked the name of Panerai with the marine environment, the measurement of time and space and the development of quality superior to the norm. This acquired technology led Panerai to create the first water-resistant military wristwatch. From 1938 Panerai Radiomir watches entered into permanent service with the Royal Italian Navy. At the end of the conflict the 300 units that had been produced became rarities highly sought after by collectors, and still remain so today. The dial of the Panerai Radiomir was distinguished by its exceptional luminosity, which enabled the watch to be used in complete darkness. The adoption of a special bridge with a lever pressing the winding crown against the case made the Panerai the only watch which could be wound under water. In 1943 another watch was created for the deck officers of the Italian Navy: the Panerai Mare Nostrum. It was a chronograph with two counters in a water-resistant case, but it remained at the prototype stage because of the event of the war in Italy. At the end of the 50s The Radiomir slowly replaced the Luminor, it had the same case shape and dial but also some significant improvements, in some cases a new Angelus 8 day mechanism and a device for locking the winding crown. This is a characteristic feature of Panerai Watches and this technical detail has been registered as a trade mark. In 1956 a watch was commissioned by the Egyptian Navy, this version is distinguished by its rotating bezel. In 1980 Panerai created a prototype divers? watch made in titanium, able to withstand a depth of 1,000 meters. It is only in 1993 that Panerai Luminor Marina, and Mare Nostrum models were offered to the public, they are limited and numbered. In 1995 , at the request of the movie actor Sylvester Stallone, Panerai created a special, very limited series of the Panerai Luminor and the Mare Nostrum, named Slytech. All the watches were engraved on the back with the actor?s signature. In 1997 the Richemont Group acquired Officine Panerai, and the brand was launched on the international market the following year.
