Notes

Officine Panerai produced watches and other tools in Florence for the Italian military and other Italian specialist dive units. Every watch given to the Italian Navy Dive Unit was engraved with the initials ?S.M.Z.? on the outside of the case back (for ?Sommozzatore?, or "diver" in English) and the diver?s serial number. The present lot is engraved ?S.M.Z., 186?, indicating that this watch was assigned to a military diver with this serial number.
The term ?Luminor? on the dial refers to the luminous substance used to ensure that the dial was legible even in very dim light.
