Notes

The dials of the first Panerai watches, beginning with the famous Radiomir in 1938, were made with diverse superimposed plates fitted with each other, and became the reference standard for the Italian navy's divers, frogmen and commandos. The Luminor was first made at the end of the 1940's, and inherited and expanded on the technical features first introduced with the Radiomir. The Luminor was reserved for exclusive use by the Italian Navy until the end of the 1980's, when it was first made available to the civilian market in 1993.
