Notes

The Panerai Luminor watch is a re-edition, based on the original drawings and timepiece designed and produced by Panerai for the Italian Navy in the 1940's and used by the Navy Assault Forces. This particular model was worn by Sylvester Stallone in the movie Daylight and was specially produced in a special edition as requested by Mr. Stallone. The mark SlyTech Panerai (Sly, as in Sylvester Stallone's nickname) is mentioned on the certificate; on the back of the watch is Stallone's signature together with "Special Edition Sylvester Stallone". This watch is No. 026 of this new limited series of 100 examples, although the back of the watch indicates No. 026/200. In the first Panerai watches of the 1940's, the dials were made with diverse superposed plates fitted together: the bottom plate was luminous with "Radiomir" or "Luminor"; the dial plate was pierced, so that the numbers were visible through the slots. Panerai very soon noticed that "Radiomir" was slightly radioactive, so changed for "Luminor". The numerals, indexes and hancls of the present model are matte with tritium, which has no radioactive effect at all. The "Mignatta", explosive mobile torpedo, the "S.L.C. Silvro a Lenta Corsa", was frequently usecl by the Italian Navy during WWII and manned by one or two marines sitting directly on it, to steer the torpedo close to the enemy objective. Swimming in the water, they could direct the projectile with great precision and let it continue its course to destroy its t rget. A small boat would then pick up the marines.
