Notes

Created to commemorate the most important event of the 20th century, this model was manufactured beginning in autumn 1969, the first in a special series of 28 numbered pieces. Bearing the inscription "To mark man's conquest of space with time, through time, on time", along with the receiver's name, it was given to each of the astronauts then active at a gala dinner on November 25, 1969, at Houston?s Hotel Warwick. Due to its success, a total of 1,014 of this watch model were produced until 1972. The pieces bear the inscription? Omega Speedmaster - Apollo XI- 1969, the first watch worn on the moon?. Another watch from this series, No. 290, was sold by Antiquorum, Hong Kong, February 10, 2005, Lot 245.
