Silvered with applied gilt baton indexes and radial Roman quarters, outer minute/seconds track with Arabic five minutes/seconds on a red laquer ground with pierced and chased foliage decoration. Gilt ?feuille? hands. M. Cal. 59 8-D SCS, copper-colored, 20 jewels, indirect center seconds with bull cless, bimetallic cut compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring. The present lot is a ?Deluxe Table Clock?. The silvered dial of the table clock is surrounded by a branch decor, which was hand-cut by Jean-Pierre Matthey-Claudet. The clock case houses caliber 59 8-D SCS. It is a precision 8-day movement, which was patented as No. 229234, registered on August 17, 1942 and subsequently labeled as a ?timepiece with center seconds-hand?. Cal. 59 8-D SCS was the first chronometer-grade movement with jumping center seconds. The center seconds are driven by a second pallet fork engaging with the seconds wheel. 8-D = 8 days SCS = Jumping center seconds
