Black with applied luminous baton indexes, outer minute/seconds and 1/5th seconds divisions, subsidiary dials for the constant seconds, the 12-hour and 30-minute registers. Luminous white ?baton? hands. M. Cal. 1861, rhodium-plated, 18 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock absorber, self-compensating flat balance spring. Dim. 42 mm. ?Snoopy Award? The ?Snoopy Award? is bestowed by astronauts on personalities and companies that have made worthwhile contributions to the NASA space program. OMEGA was the recipient of the award in October 1970 in recognition of the performance of the Speedmaster Professional during the Gemini and Apollo programs, and, in particular, on the Apollo XII and XIII missions in November 1969 and April 1970. Apollo XII was the second manned landing on the moon, while Apollo XIII was to have been the third manned mission, but the actual lunar landing had to be abandoned due to the explosion of an oxygen tank on the spacecraft. Despite damage to the spacecraft, the crew returned safely to earth. Ref. SU 145.0031 was launched in 1999, in a limited edition of 5,441. This watch is published on pages 212-215 of ?The Master of Omega?.
