Four-body, ?bassine?, front cover with gold inlaid retriever holding a hare within a wood, the back cover with decorated with a hunt master and hounds in full cry, band with Greek key decoration, hinged silver cuvette. D. White enamel, Breguet numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel ?cathedral? hands. M. Cal. 15??? SOB, frosted gilt, 15 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial, cuvette and movement signed. Diam 42mm.

The process involves rubbing an alloy of silver, copper, lead and sulfur into an engraved pattern on silver or gold which is then fired, leaving darkened areas in the crevices after the object is polished.
