Platinum and Diamond Grand Luxe Chronometer Omega, ?Automatic, Chronomètre, Officially Certified?, movement No. 12676056, case No. 11060202, Ref. PA14.326SC. Finished on May 16, 1953, made for the Swiss market. Extremely fine and extremely rare, early, center seconds, self-winding, platinum and diamond wristwatch with ?Bumper? rotor and a Staybrite steel Omega buckle. Accompanied by a fitted box and blank Omega guarantee.

Two-tone silvered, ?Honeycomb?, set with 8 brilliant-cut diamonds and dart faceted indexes, inner minute/seconds divisions, applied 18K white gold Omega logo. White gold dauphine hands. M. Cal. 352, copper-colored, 17 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to 5 positions and temperatures, shock absorber, self-compensating flat balance spring, index regulator. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 35 mm. Thickness 11 mm.

The ?Grand Luxe? model was launched by Omega in 1953. This watch, originally delivered in a large silver box, was available in yellow gold with a yellow gold or silvered dial; pink gold with a pink gold or silvered dial; and platinum with a diamond-set silvered dial. It was the leading model of the 1953 ?Montre et Bijoux? Exhibition.
The platinum model with diamond-set dial was the most expensive Omega watch of the time, selling for 2800 Swiss Francs. Only a small number of the platinum-cased model were sold and even fewer survive today. The platinum ?Grand Luxe? is one of the rarest and certainly the most desirable among the vintage Omega wristwatches.
