Louis Elisée Piguet, No. 34/5198/47741, made for Schwob Freres & Co., Chaux-de-Fonds, based on Louis Brandt (Omega) patent, circa 1895. Very fine and rare 18K gold hunting-cased keyless double train carillon Grande Sonnerie clockwatch with minute-repeating and striking Jacks.
C. Six-body, massive, ?bassine et filets? engine-turned, gold hinged cuvette over glazed gold bezel for viewing the movement. D. Small off-white enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, subsidiary sunk seconds, flanked by painted on enamel Justice, Chronos and a Cherub repeating hours, quarters and minutes on bells, the whole on gilt brass plate. Blued steel ?Spade? hands. M. 45 mm (20???), frosted gilt, Mairet tandem winding system, 33 jewels, adjusted to positions, temperature, and isochronism, straight line calibrated lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with blued steel Breguet balance-spring, carillon on three gongs and three hammers of Brandt?s design, carillon/silence lever at 12 o?clock protruding from under the bezel, repeating activated by a small pushbutton at 6 o?clock on the band.Signed on the movement under the dial, engraved with Brandt?s patent number, case punched with Le Locle guarantee mark and prestige British marks.Diam. 56 mm.
