Made famous by the Rolex sports models bearing the name Comex, it is however less known that some of the first models tested by Comex as a possible candidate to equip their divers was the Omega Seamaster fitted with a large revolving bezel that was held and could be released by pressing the iconic red button. Some of the earliest examples were tested during the expedition Janus II and by the famous commander Jacques- Yves Cousteau. This current example is one of the early pre-production models that differs from the later models by its dial that only states Seamaster without the words Professional and the DEPTH as found on later models. Consigned by the original owner it still is fitted with its original bracelet, dial (often found in poor condition unlike this example), bezel and hands that are rarely found today. An important model in the development of the Ploprof dive watch. Please note that according to the Omega archives the movement is not matching (in need of repair, winding rotor pivot broken) and comes from a reference 166.090.
