Notes

The GEMINI 4 Mission - The First Space Walk by NASA
Gemini 4 was the second crewed mission of the Gemini series and carried James McDivitt and Edward White on a 4-day, 62-orbit, 98-hr flight from June 3 to June 7, 1965.
The highlight of the mission was the first space walk by an American, during which Mr White floated free outside the spacecraft, tethered to it, for approximately 20 minutes. Both of these accomplishments helped the United States overcome the Soviet Union's early lead in the Space Race.
Edward Higgins White II
White was one of nine men chosen as part of the second group of astronauts in 1962. Within an already elite group, White was considered to be skilled by the management of NASA. He was selected to be Pilot of Gemini 4, serving alongside Command Pilot James McDivitt.
Ed White was wearing his Speedmaster pre-Professional (ref. 105.003) during the extravehicular activity.
