THICKNESS 14 mm. Approx overall length 170 mm. Made famous by the Rolex sports models bearing the name Comex, it is however less known that some of the first models tested by Comex as a possible candidate to equip their divers was the Omega Seamaster. Fitted with a large revolving bezel that was held and could be released by pressing the iconic red button. Some of the earliest examples were tested during the expedition Janus II and by the famous commander Jacques- Yves Cousteau. This current example is surely one of the first Ploprof's ever made featuring the engraving on the caseback Prototype 4 101 and further differs from the later models by its dial that only states Seamaster without the words Professional and the DEPTH as found on later models. It is interesting also to note that the dial is the same as found on the never commercialized titanium Ploprof (see Omega a Journey through Time by Marco Richon, page 330). Just serviced by Omega in Bienne and still under warranty, it is the first Omega Ploprof Prototype to have been offered at auction.
