Patek Philippe & Cie. a Geneve, No. 197582, case No. 407957, sold to Tiffany & Co. in July 1921. Extremely fine and rare 18K gold, grande complication, moon phase astronomical, keyless minute repeating watch, carillon on three gongs, with perpetual calendar, split-seconds chronograph and instantaneous twice 30 minute recorder.

C. Three body, massive "bassine", polished with concealed hinge, hinged gold cuvette. D. White enamel with radial Breguet numerals, outer minute and chronograph ring, sunk subsidiary dials for days of the week, minute register with inner moon phase aperture, its age on the border, months, subsidiary seconds with outer red date ring. Blued steel "spade" hands. M. 19"', rhodium plated, "fausses cotes" decoration, 40 jewels, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring with swan neck micrometric index. Minute repeating, carillon on three gongs with three hammers and slide in the band. Split-seconds chronograph with visible work, button on the winding crown and push-piece in the band. Signed on the dial, case and movement. In perfect condition with Extract of the Archives, accompanied by a later mahogany Patek Philippe fitted box. Diam. 54 mm.

Notes

Patek Philippe minute repeating watches with carillon are fairly rare, even more so when with perpetual calendar and split-seconds chronograph. A very similar watch is described and illustrated in Martin Huber & Alan Banbery: Patek Philippe pocket watches p. 226, fig. 207 a and b.
