Patek Philippe & Cie., Genève, No 12858, case No 12858, circa 1858. Very fine and rare 18 ct. gold pair cased "cabriolet" key-less watch.
Three body massive "bassine pincée" case, engraved overall with scrolled feathers, made in such a way the watch can be used either as an open face or as a hunting cased watch, a small monogram engraved in an escutchon on the back. Four body massive "demi-bassine et filets" inner case with inset hinges, engraved overall with scrolled feathers, a branch of laurel in the middle of the back. Gold cuvette, engine-turned on the edge, engraved: "Invention & exécution de Patek Philippe". White enamel dial with Roman numerals. Blued steel Breguet hands. Gilt brass 16"' movement, 15 jewels, straight line lever escape-ment "à moustaches", cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. signed on the cuvette. In very good condition. Diam.: 50 mm.
