Patek Philippe & Cie, Genève, No. 4035, case No. 4035, sold on the 28.2.1855. Rare and important 18-carat gold and enamel historical watch, with the first form of keyless "remontoir" patented by Adrien Philippe in 1845.
Four body "demi-bassine" case, the band chiselled with scrolls, George Washington portrait "en grisaille" on the back with further champlevé foliage decoration on a black background, painted by Lamunière & Spiess (very slightly chipped on the edge). Gold cuvette marked: "Invention brevetée". Breguet blued steel hands. White enamel dial signed: Patek Philippe & Cie, Genève, with Roman numerals and offset subsidiary seconds. 18' gilt brass movement signed: Patek & Cie, Genève, 15 jewels, equilibrated straight line lever escapement with cut bimetallic balance. In good condition. Diam. 45 mm.
