Very fine and unique, folder of original designs for Patek Philippe Haute Joaillerie watches including the Nautilus, and designs for tie-clips, cufflinks and key chains.
Accompanied by a folder containing archival photographs of finished pieces, some with reference numbers and two typed conference schedules on Patek Philippe headed notepaper for 9 & 10 June, 1967 and 16 & 17 June, 1967 for M. Rubeli's lecture ?Création d?une montre de luxe et ses problèmes?. The original designs: gouache on acetate, 3 designs for the lady?s Haute Joaillerie Nautilus, one for each diamond-set watch with rubies or sapphires or emeralds; 3 for a lady?s bracelet watch (Ref. 4542/1, 4543/1 and 4544/1) in rubies, sapphires or emeralds; 3 different designs for a white gold rectangular watch; a gouache on paper design for 3 pairs of cufflinks; one for 3 matching key chains and another for three matching tie-clips. The Photographs: Color prints of diamond and precious stone-set watches, mostly 1970s, including a photograph of the realized pieces of 3 of the original designs in this lot. The original drawings signed ?Rubeli?. This important document gives insight into the design process at Patek Philippe. Original designs for Patek Philippe watches very rarely reach the open market. The painted gouache designs in this collection are for diamond and precious stone-set versions of the Nautilus and 3 spectacular lady?s bracelet watches. A photograph of these 3 pieces as finally made is included. The cufflink, tie-clip and key-chain designs are for pieces to be sold with a wristwatch as a ?set? for gentlemen as evening wear.
