Patek Philippe Five-Minute Repeater For Bailey, Banks & Biddle Patek, Philippe, Genève, movement No. 65078, case No. 65078. Made for Bailey, Banks & Biddle, Philadelphia in 1881, sold on November 21, 1881. Very fine, early and rare five-minute-repeating, 18K yellow gold, keyless pocket watch. Accompanied by the Extract from the Archives.
C. Four-body, "bassine", polished, the back cover with engraved initials (WMB). Hinged gold cuvette with dedication inscription (From Bill, Nov. 24 1892). D. White enamel with narrow radial Roman numerals, outer minute track with painted 5 minute indexes, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel spade hands. m. Cal. 16''', rhodium-plated, fausses cotes decoration, 31 jewels, wolf?s tooth winding, counterpoised straight-line calibrated lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Dial, case, cuvette and movement signed Bailey, Banks & Biddle, case also signed Patek Philippe. Diam. 46 mm.
