C. Three-piece, lacquered brass in gimbals set in mahogany box, outer mahogany carrying box. D. Silvered, bold Arabic nume-rals, outer minute ring, subsidiary sunk seconds. Blued steel "Feuille" hands. M. 50 mm. (22???) frosted gilt, 20 jewels, straight line calibrated lever escapement, cut Guillaume anibal-brass compensation balance, special alloy Breguet balance spring, micrometric ?swan-neck? regulator, stamped twice with the Seal of Geneva quality mark. Signed on dial and movement. Diam. 89 mm.

The watch comes from a small series of deck watches (191400-191469) that were cased in silver, stainless steel, brass and chromium plated. Some of them had small mahogany fitted boxes. All of them were submitted to the Geneva Observatory Contests and later, sometimes much later, sold to special clients, often Patek Philippe retailers. One of them is still in the possession of the company keeping time in the New York Office. For an explanation of the Guillaume balance see lot 5.
