Notes

The present lot comes from the family of the original owner and is a testament to the unique special order pieces that Patek Philippe has done throughout its history. The unique piece was gifted to Captain Purcell by one of his students and features an engraving of the exact plane they used during fl ight instruction. The case of the timepiece is further enhanced by being both platinum and 18K yellow gold. This example is accompanied by the inaugural issue of National Glider, in which Captain Purcell wrote an article detailing his experience with the student and the custom pocket watch that he received as a gift.
