PATEK PHILIPPE SILVER ST. GEORGE & THE DRAGON "S.GEORGIVS. EQVITVM.PATRONVS" Patek Philippe & Co., Genève, No. 72709. Made CIRCA 1880. Fine, rare and unusual, antiquarian-style, blackened silver, center-seconds, keyless pocket watch, the case depicting St. George and the Dragon.
Four-body, chased shell and scroll band and bezels, the back cover cast and chased with St. George and the dragon and the motto "S. Georgivs Eqvitvm Patronvs", the interior with a scene of Christ in ship on a rough sea and the motto "Intempestate. Secvritas". Hinged silver cuvette. Cast and chased silver with radial Roman numerals, outer arcaded minute track and large Arabic five-minute numerals, scrollwork center with signature cartouches. Gold Louis hands. 18''', frosted gilt, bar caliber, 17 jewels, wolf's tooth winding, straight line "moustache" lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Cuvette signed and numbered.
