Four-body, bassine, polished, the front cover with glazed aperture and radial black champlevé Roman numerals, the back cover with engraved foliate monogram AX. Hinged gold cuvette with engraved dedication ?Alexandre à Xavier Bibesco à Drevet?. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds dial. Blued steel spade hands. 18```, matte gilt, 15 jewels, wolf?s tooth winding, straight- line lever escapement à moustache, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Cuvette signed and also signed by the retailer, movement numbered on the dial plate.

DIAM. 48 mm. Prince Alexandre Bibesco (1842-1911) was the son of Prince Georges Bibesco who reigned as Hospodar (a Slavic King) on the Wallachian throne between 1842 and 1848. Wallachia is an ancient medieval Principality in Romania. Bibesco studied and lived in Paris where his wife, Princesse Hélène was a pupil of the legendary pianist Artur Rubinstein.
