Notes

The present Graves clock is virtually unknown, having been in the hands of a private collector for many years. It seems that the company made only two clocks like it, both for Patek Philippe?s most important clients of the time, Henry Graves Jr. and James W. Packard. The Packard clock, No. 197707, is described and illustrated in "Patek Philippe, Geneva" by Martin Huber and Alan Banbery, Geneva 1982, p. 71-72, and is part of the Patek Philippe museum collection. This clock is superbly finished, with extreme attention to details. For instance, some of the screws are numbered (from 0 to 5) to ensure that they will always be properly placed. All parts are extremely well polished, the wheels are gold, the escapement is superbly finished, the design is elegant.
