Notes

The Extract from the Archives, dated November 9, 2014, mentioned that this watch was sold on June 29, 1875. It seemed that Patek Philippe produced only 24 watches with long duration 8-day going movement of this type (No. 35 139 to No. 35 162). 21 of them were delivered to A. Erdélyi, Budapest (then Austro-Hungarian Empire), for the amount of 195 francs each. Their cases were engraved in taille-douce (fine cut) with coat-of-arms. One of the three remaining examples is kept in the Patek Museum, Geneva: - No. 35 150, manufactured in 1868 / 1869 and sold on September 6, 1875, to Mr. Poliakoff, engineer hydrograph of the Imperial Russian marine, for the amount of 280 francs. The deck-watches - fitted inside robust construction cases - are usually used at sea, on ships, to help navigators determine their longitude. This type of timepiece, as it is built, could also be intended for land expedition use or for use by astronomers. Bibliography Patek Philippe Museum, Patek Philippe Watches, vol. I, p. 66. Similar watch - No. 35 162 (cover engraved "50") Antiquorum, Geneva, May 13, 2007, lot 645, sold for the amount of CHF 35 400.
